Custom Coloured Tile Insert and Wedge Wire Linear Drain
Upgrade your wet area with a powder coated strip drain designed for both architectural impact and long-term durability. Built on our premium stainless steel tile insert system, this coloured strip drain combines high-performance linear drainage with a custom powder coated finish in black, antique bronze, or any colour of your choice.
Perfect for contemporary bathrooms, alfresco spaces, balconies and commercial fit-outs, this is a drainage solution that integrates seamlessly into your floor while complementing surrounding fixtures and finishes.
Why Choose a Powder Coated Strip Drain?
A powder coated finish transforms a standard stainless steel linear drain into a refined architectural feature. Whether you’re matching matte black tapware, antique bronze hardware, or a bespoke colour palette, powder coating provides:
- Architectural colour consistency
- Enhanced corrosion resistance
- UV-stable, long-lasting finish
- Scratch and wear durability
- A premium alternative to exposed stainless steel
Unlike plated finishes, powder coating forms a protective bonded layer over the drain surface, delivering durability suited to high-moisture environments.
Available Colours
Our powder coated strip drains can be finished in:
- Matte Black (most popular for modern bathrooms)
- Antique Bronze
- Monument
- Gunmetal
- Surfmist
- Or any custom powder coat colour to suit your project
This flexibility makes the product ideal for high-end residential builds, architect-specified projects, and commercial applications requiring strict colour alignment.
Engineered Linear Drainage Performance
The powder coated strip drain is built on our proven linear drain system, delivering efficient water removal while maintaining a minimalist finish.
Key Features
- Tile insert design for flush floor integration
- Custom lengths available
- Multiple outlet positions
- Suitable for bathrooms, showers, laundries, balconies and alfresco areas
- High flow capacity compared to traditional point wastes
- Removable insert for easy cleaning and maintenance
Tiles sit neatly within the channel tray, allowing the drain line to visually disappear into the floor, while the coloured outer edge enhances the surrounding design.
Ideal Applications
- Walk-in showers
- Wet rooms
- Luxury residential renovations
- Poolside and outdoor entertaining areas
- Commercial amenities and hospitality projects
A powder coated linear drain ensures the drainage element complements, rather than disrupts, your architectural intent.
Custom Manufacturing & Finish Options
Each powder coated strip drain begins as a precision-fabricated stainless steel unit. It is then professionally powder coated to your specified colour for consistent coverage and durability.
If you require a specific finish to match tapware, joinery, or architectural metalwork, we can coordinate a custom powder coating solution.
Order Your Powder Coated Strip Drain
Select your required:
- Length

FAQ
A linear drain is a long, narrow channel that efficiently collects and directs surface water to a single outlet. It provides a modern, minimalist look and allows for superior water flow compared to traditional point drains¹.
Where can I install a linear drain?
Linear drains can be installed in bathrooms, walk-in showers, wet rooms, balconies, patios, pool decks, and driveways, anywhere effective surface drainage is needed.
Why choose stainless steel?
Stainless steel is strong, hygienic, and corrosion-resistant, making it ideal for both indoor wet areas and outdoor environments exposed to moisture and chemicals.
What grades of stainless steel are available?
- AISI 304 stainless steel is sometimes used indoors but is not offered by Strip Drains due to its inferior quality.
- AISI 316 stainless steel (marine grade) is ideal for outdoor or coastal areas due to superior corrosion resistance.
Are stainless steel drains rust-proof?
They are highly resistant to rust and corrosion. With proper care and cleaning, stainless steel drains maintain their finish and performance for many years.
Are Strip Drains available in brass?
Yes. We also manufacture custom drains from 2mm brass. Brass is highly corrosion-resistant and selected for its premium aesthetic appeal.
Design & Installation
What sizes are available?
We custom manufacture each drain to exact requirements. We offer four standard stainless steel profiles and one brass profile, available with either tile insert or wedge wire trays.
Can I design a drain with a custom profile?
Yes. With in-house laser cutting, CNC folding, welding, abrasive blasting and powder coating, we can manufacture virtually any custom drainage solution.
What is the maximum tile thickness for tile insert trays?
Standard trays accept up to 12mm tiles, we also offer a tray for 20mm tiles.
- 70mm x 24mm
- 97mm x 25mm
- 115mm x 25mm profiles.
The 100mm x 40mm tray accepts up to 14mm tiles.
Tile insert trays for thicker tiles are available on request. We also fabricate tile insert drains to fit 20mm tiles.
Can the drain be cut to size on site?
We do not recommend site modification. Our stainless steel trays are thick and difficult to cut with hand tools.
Where should the drain be positioned?
Along the wall, at the shower entrance (barrier-free), or centrally depending on slope layout and design.
What floor slope is required?
A single-direction recommended slope minimum of 2% (20mm per metre) toward the drain is recommended. Installers should seek advice on local council requirements.
Can it be used with any flooring?
Yes. Suitable for tile, stone, resin, vinyl, or concrete floors (with correct waterproofing).
Performance & Maintenance
How much water can it handle?
Depending on size and outlet, drains handle approximately 30–60 litres per minute, suitable for high-flow showers and outdoor use.
Are they easy to clean?
Yes. Grates can be lifted with the supplied key for easy cleaning.
How do I clean a stainless steel drain?
Use warm water and mild detergent. Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals and abrasive pads.
Can it withstand outdoor weather?
Yes. 316 stainless steel resists UV, salt corrosion, and freezing conditions.
Customisation & Accessories
Are decorative grates available?
Yes, brushed, polished, matte, or powder-coated finishes available.
Can I customise the outlet position?
Yes, centred or offset outlets available. Recommended outlet tube size: 80mm diameter x 50mm length.
Warranty
What warranty do you offer?
10-year warranty against manufacturing defects when installed and maintained correctly.
